The Bristol Men's Convention was started when a number of men who used to regularly attend the London's Men Convention wondered whether something could not be done more locally - making it accessible to a larger number of men from the South West.

As a result, in 2010 the Bristol Men's Convention was launched. It is organised by an interdenominational group of evangelical ministers and leaders under the auspices of the South West Gospel Partnership.

SWGP is a network of conservative evangelical leaders committed to Bible-shaped ministry in the South-West, and exists to promote:

  • Training in gospel ministry
  • Evangelism
  • Church planting

The Bristol Men's Convention is organised by a committee chaired by Richard Hames, a semi-retired lawyer now farming in Wiltshire. It also includes Andrew Paterson & Steve Wilmshurst (pastors of Kensington Baptist Church), Mike Cain (pastor of Emmanuel Bristol) and Spencer Shaw (pastor of Emmanuel Evangelical Church Chippenham).
