About Us

The Bristol Men's Convention was started when a number of men who used to regularly attend the London's Men Convention wondered whether something could not be done more locally - making it accessible to a larger number of men from the South West.

As a result, in 2010 the Bristol Men's Convention was launched, and held at Kensington Baptist Church Bristol. By 2011 the number of men attending had increased, so in 2012 we moved the conference to the Colston Hall in Bristol with over 400 men from across the South West region attending. Attendance has continued to grow, with over 500 attending in June 2013. Our next convention is confirmed for Saturday June 14th 2014, and will be held at the Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol.

The Bristol Men's Convention is organised by the the South West Gospel Partnership (SWGP) - an interdenominational group of evangelical ministers and leaders committed to Bible-shaped ministry in the South-West. SWGP exists to promote:

  • Training in gospel ministry
  • Evangelism
  • Church planting

The Bristol Men's Convention organising committee is chaired by Richard Hames, a retired lawyer now farming in Wiltshire. It also includes Steve Wilmshurst (Director of Training at Kensington Baptist Church), Mike Cain (pastor of Emmanuel Bristol) and Spencer Shaw (pastor of Emmanuel Church Chippenham).
